Tibby’s New Orleans Kitchen is full of spunk and soul.  Walking into the restaurant you’ll see bright vibrant colors and a reflection of New Orleans. Not only does this restaurant give customers personality, but it also gives them some flavorful foods.

I had the opportunity to visit Tibby’s recently. I was very happy with the service I received. Everyone was helping one another and the servers were very friendly. After looking over the menu I had to try the server’s recommendation – The Shrimp and Andouille Cheddar Grits which included: Sautéed shrimp, Andouille sausage & sweet onions over cheese grits and finished with a red wine gravy.

This plate was absolutely fantastic. I usually do not like grits. Growing up in Ohio, that’s not something we were accustomed to. I feel like it’s a staple here in southern states.  The grits had a strong cheesy flavor and had a soft texture. The shrimp and Andouille sausage both had spiciness to them, but the red wine gravy mellowed this out and gave the plate its strong flavor. The only thing I could not really taste in this dish was the sweet onion.

I also tried the Blackened Chicken Pasta which included: Roasted peppers, artichoke hearts, Cajun seasoning and Tibby’s house lemon butter sauce served over linguini and topped with blackened chicken.

I really liked this one too. The Cajun Seasoning paired with the house lemon butter sauce gave my palate a sweet and spicy flavor in each bite. The chicken was cooked to perfection and was very tender. I really enjoyed the artichoke hearts and red peppers and felt that they gave the soft plate more of a crunch.

After dinner I could not pass up beignets for dessert. Going to a New Orleans restaurant wouldn’t be complete without some beignets. These pastries were so light and fluffy and melted in my mouth. There was so much powdered sugar on this plate and it was like heaven. If you have time, or room, for dessert I highly recommend this.

If you’re looking for a little bit of spice and fun, definitely stop by Tibby’s in Winter Park.
