Shula Burger – Grand Opening Week

Not only is Don Shula a Miami Dolphins football legend, but he is also the owner of Shula Burger. Shula Burger currently has five locations in Fort Lauderdale, Tampa (airport), Kendall/Miami, Delray Beach and now in Kissimmee/Orlando.

I was lucky enough to spot this gem the other day as I was making my way over to my local Target. Shula Burger in Kissimmee/Orlando recently had its grand opening this past week. Located in a nice strip mall, the burger joint is very sleek, clean and modern. Walking inside, the restaurant boasts a nice picture of Shula himself. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside.

When looking over the menu, I noticed right away that you have to order everything separately. Also, you are given a number and the servers will bring your order to your table. However, the service was great and the people were so nice. One man was talking to my boyfriend and I, and he let us know that they create their burgers using Premium Black Angus Beef, short rib and brisket. I also enjoyed knowing that when our burgers came out, they would be ‘branded’ with Shula’s name.

I decided to order the Wine Country Burger (they put my boyfriend’s fries on my plate, which was ok with me ;)) which included: roasted peppers, fresh goat cheese, balsamic greens and roasted tomatoes. This was so good. The beef was so fresh, and the fresh goat cheese and balsamic greens gave my burger such a sweet flavor.

I also ordered the Blue Cheese Chips which were so crisp. I love homemade chips and these were very well done. The blue cheese on top was so creamy and the bacon bits were the perfect topping.

My boyfriend ordered The House of Blue burger and a side of fries. This burger included: blue cheese, red onion jam and balsamic greens. Again, the burger was very fresh and the balsalmic greens gave the sandwich a sweet flavor. The blue cheese mellowed out the sweetness and was very strong. I am not a fan of onions, and the onion jam was a bit too much for my liking. The fries were alright, but felt that they were a little underdone for my taste.

Shula Burger has definitely scored a touchdown on my restaurant list. So, if you’re a burger fan I totally recommend giving this new restaurant a try!
